JOURNEY

MITESH LODHA is a Contemporary Menswear label with underlying Indian influences.

Mitesh’s journey in the fashion and textile industry began early as his family business was primarily into textiles. To pursue his interest and fine-tune his skills Mitesh completed his higher studies in Fashion Design from B. D Somani institute of Design in 2004. He joined his family business post, but soon decided to establish his independent practice as designer label, which would allow him to experiment with and express his creative ideas.

He began his design practice in a small 100 sq ft store in Santacruz, where he would create custom designs for his clients and soon moved his label Studio Mujrosa to Khar and created is first contemporary Indian menswear collection in 2015 called MUJROSA, which also won him the Lakme Fashion Week best fashion film award for its fashion film.

Mitesh has been a designer for eight years now and currently runs his label MITESH LODHA from his studio in Lower Parel, Mumbai and recently launched his F/W Contemporary Indian Menswear collection ‘SAMYIK’ in 2017.

When asked about his design aesthetics and philosophy Mitesh quotes-

“I do not like myself to be defined as an Indian or western wear designer as I feel identifying your self under any of these boxes restricts you for from experimenting with different styles and genres of clothing. I derive great inspiration from our traditional design heritage and enjoy fusing them with modern geometric construction and silhouettes, which can be adapted to Indian as well as western wear. But the core of the design process for me always revolves around minimalistic construction and detailing. “

Mitesh is currently working on developing a line of Contemporary Suits and offers a wide range of well constructed Formal as well as Indian wear under his Label.
